Don't just stand there - DO SOMETHING!
Bystander parents and concerned citizens enable the woke ideologues in their destruction of our public school system
Far too many parents and concerned citizens are just shocked onlookers at what’s happening to our public school system. The bystander effect is enabling the woke ideologues that have colonized the schools and school boards to oppress the students with poisonous, pseudo-scientific and divisive teaching. Children are falling behind and school violence is out of control in Ontario.
If you’re a parent or grandparent - you have a choice; just standby and let public schooling completely deteriorate or DO SOMETHING. If you decide to do something this article will provide you with background to the problem and some pointers on how to organize for change.
On school violence, Tia, a teenage student caught in the violence of her school is a case in point. She has lost her motivation because she is living in fear of what may happen to her. Her plea for order and support in the schools is ignored or dismissed by ideologues and activists discussing school violence;
Diversity is important to Critical Race Theorists but if a person’s opinion isn’t part of the group think of Critical Race Theory or Gender Ideology - it doesn’t count as much as an expert’s opinion.
Now the panelists have the narrative back on an appropriate Critical Race Theory track - they can just ignore what Tia said about the police presence in her school making her feel safe.
Parents and concerned citizens must do better than just watch in dismay. Bystanding gives a green light to more woke atrocities in our public schools.
Some parents have decided that enough is enough and they will protect their children. They kept their kids home from school and that got the attention of the school administration and school board:
But on a day last week when Eagle Heights public school celebrated its diversity and inclusion, about 400 pupils — roughly one-third of the school’s entire population — stayed home, the large absence drawing the attention of some in education circles and leaving the Thames Valley District school board investigating but saying little about the huge absence.
Rainbow Day: Why did one-third of kids at one London school stay home?
Concerted parent action at the local level gets the attention. If done consistently and persistently it will get action.
How long will it be, if woke ideologues are allowed to continue to infect the minds of our young people, until children chase down other children and humiliate them for being white or cisgender. This is already happening in the United States;
SPRINGFIELD — Some families in Springfield are concerned about sending their children to school after police said they are investigating “identified assaults” at Kenwood Elementary School.
“These are young children, elementary school children who are involved,” Springfield Police Chief Allison Elliot said during a press conference Monday.
One of them is Ryan Springer’s 12-year-old son.
“They basically told him to get down on his knees and say ‘BLM’ and if he didn’t that they was going to beat him up and all that,” Springer said.
What can you do? It’s time for grass roots pushback!
The slide above is from a Gender Ideology Forum I hosted in 2021. Real change has to be grassroots and local but also needs to be co-ordinated and supported at higher levels - provincial and national. Also, local organizations must be scalable - can grow in a way that they don’t lose their coherence and mission.
Corey Mooney writing for the Woke Watch Canada Newsletter outlines a number of excellent strategies for local groups to build on;
School Council – Get on it!
School Board and Council Meetings – Attend and Speak Up!
engage Politics: Federal, Provincial, Local
Prepare for Trustee Elections 2026
Support beleaguered teachers and others
This leaves the question of how should local groups organize. As a teacher and administrator of 30 years in the Ontario system I have summarized my thought in this presentation “Organize for Change” Parents can organize around local schools. School boards always group schools within Trustee Wards and the entire school board is represented by a collection of elected trustees. Following the organizational pattern of the school boards will align local, ward and whole board concerns and facilitate scalability.
An organization model for parent advocacy
•School Teams - Parents whose children attend local schools
•Ward Chapters -Leaders of school teams
•School Board Parent Concern Committee -Ward Chapter leaders
